Yes. There are several elements that come into place to ensure that Planika Fires are safe:

Tests. Planika is a leader on biofireplaces market and allocates its resources into product research and development. As a result, a special laboratory was built to test all products before leaving the manufacturer. Products are burned in a special combustion chamber and tested with a thermo-camera.
Fanola®. This special ethanol based fuel was developed especially for Planika fires and is compatible with all Planika products. It is certified, completely safe and recommended for use. Only Fanola® can guarantee clean burning.
Production. To ensure the highest quality and reliability all elements are sourced and the production is in Europe.
User’s manual. It is important to read the user’s manual before use. If you follow the user’s manual there is a 100% safety guarantee.
2. What distinguishes Planika Fires from traditional fireplaces?

3. How long does one fuel fill up burn for?
It depends on the model, e. g. Fire Line approx. 10h, L-shape 3-5h, Lighthouse Commerce – up to 7h. By each product there are technical details including all information.
4. Is the Fanola® liquid environmentally friendly?
Yes, it is a liquid based on ethanol of seasonal plant origin. While burning it produces no substances harmful to the environment. Fanola® has received a positive opinion from the EcoLogo program.
5. What is the gas emission while burning?
The burning is completely clean because it emits only carbon dioxide and water vapour in proportions similar to those contained in the air exhaled by people.
6. What is the safety guarantee?
There is a 100% safety guarantee provided the product is used according to the user’s manual. All products are assembled by hand what provides additional quality check.
7. Do you need additional ventilation?
It is not necessary. Any working gravitational ventilation should guarantee an air exchange in a room of 1 per hour which is required for the use of Planika products. This is a normal ventilation in any premises build according to planning permissions and building regulations.
The exceptions are long fireplaces where additional ventilation might be necessary together with a need to install grate for air circulation below the product.
8. What is the minimum cubic capacity allowing Planika Fire in an interior?
It depends on the model, e.g. for Groundfloor it is 1560.90f3 (44,2 m3) and for Expresione 1836.36f3 (52 m3). By each product there are technical details including all information.
9. How can I clean a Planika Fire?
The product doesn’t need any special maintenance. Depending on what they are made of, you can clean the elements with all domestic cleaning products.
10. What is the heating power?
It depends on the product, app. 6000BTU/h. The heating power decreases when the flame is smaller.
11. Can I use it outside?
Yes, there are few models appropriate for outdoor use.
12. Does Planika give guarantee for their products?
Yes, Planika gives a statutory 2 year warranty within the EU. The warranty period on other territories depends on local laws.
13. Can I regulate the flame size?
Depending on the model. 2L burners are equipped with a burner shutter that allows to regulate the flame size. There is also a manual flame regulation in Fire Line and in Fire Line Automatic tis can be done with a remote control.
14. Can I use a different liquid than Fanola®?
Using a different uncertified liquid may lead to the emission of irritating fumes or soot, or even toxic fumes which can endanger health.
15. Does the use of a Planika Fire cause ceiling soot?
No. Fanola® burns clearly and completely. However, you should keep a minimum 3.28ft distance from the ceiling.
16. Are Planika Fires safe for children and animals?
Due to high temperatures keep children and animals away from the product. While burning the product is very hot and touching it may cause burns.
17. How to extinguish the fire?
Models based on the Glassfire® Technology should be extinguished with a special tool provided with each model. Other Planika Fires have a special shutter enabling flame size regulation as well as fire extinguishing. In Fire Line Automatic the fire is extinguished automatically after pressing STOP button.
18. What is the durability of a Planika Fire? How long can I use a Planika Fire?
There is no time limit. Elements vulnerable to corrosion are made of stainless steel providing longevity of the product. The damage to the product can be done if not used according to user’s manual.
19. Is additional installation really necessary?
No in most models it is not necessary at all. Only the wall-mounted models require special set up. Detailed information is given in the instruction manual for each product. Fire Line Automatic requires connecting to a power supply.
20. How to store Fanola® liquid fuel?
You should keep it away from any source of fire, children and pets.
21. In the case of building a product into a wall – do I need any insulation?
In most models there is no need for it. However, depending on the building and decorative materials used there might be a need to isolate the wall in case of the wall mounted fireplaces. Detailed information is given in the instruction manual for each product. The steel casing for the Fire Line and Fire Line Automatic models requires no additional isolation.
22. Can I place a TV set or audio equipment close to a Planika Fire?
Yes, provided that you keep 3.28 foot distance between a Planika Fire and your equipment.
23. What is Fanola®?
It is a liquid ethanol based fuel which has undergone double rectification. It is eco-friendly, certified and safe to use in Planika Fires.
24. How is it possible, that there is no need for a chimney?
Fanola® liquid is a special liquid based on alcohol prepared especially for use in Planika Fires. CO2 and water vapour are the only products emitted while burning.
25. What cubic capacity is a Planika Fire able to heat up?
Planika Fires are not heating but a decorative appliances. However, they do produce some heat.
26. Can I place a Planika Fire on a wooden floor?
Yes, providing this is not a wall-mounted product.
27. Will anything happen, if I leave the liquid in a cup after extinguishing the fire? Will it lit up after one day?
No, nothing will happen. However, on rare occasions the liquid fumes may light up abruptly while starting the fire, and poofing noise may occur puzzling the user.
28. Will the glass crack due to long exposition to high temperatures?
No, because the glass cylinder is based on a Glassfire® Technology and is temperature resistant.
29. Can I move the product?
You can only move portable products while they are not burning and there is no fuel in the reservoir. Under no circumstances a burning product should be moved.
30. What is a Planika Fire made of?
It is made of materials available in the furnishing industry. The burner is made of stainless steel and many models also have glass elements.
31. Do I need any permission in order to purchase a Planika Fire?
No, there is no permission needed, unless your local regulations state differently.
32. Is it true that while burning no smoke is produced?
Yes, it is true.
33. How much water vapour and carbon dioxide is emitted while burning?
The proportions are similar to those contained in the air exhaled humans. Amounts produced while burning provided appropriate ventilation are not harmful.
34. Is it possible to have a customized Planika Fire?
Wall-mounted inserts can be made- to-measure according to a specific project. Out technical team researches every project individually and advises on best solution.
35. What must I never do?
You can never pour liquid while the fire is burning.
38. How to convert a traditional fireplace into one run by bio ethanol fireplace? Do I need to close the chimney off?
You don’t need to convert it, the chimney may stay as a free passage. All you need to do is use one of the inserts.
